“If you’ve got it, take it out and play with it!”

This Hamilton Jet 773 Mexico GT Sports has been in our family for 12 years. Believe it or not, it was built in 1977 and is 34 years old! This boat is Hull #18 and is reputed to be one of the 2 boats featured in the NZ film “Flight of the Yankee Zephyr” where two jet boats were jumped from one lake to another. The boat name was inspired by the movie “Cool Runnings” (“We are the Jamaican bob sleigh team!”)

Everything in the boat is original 1977 spec, except the new DMW tandem trailer. Mr Hamilton’s trailers were ahead of their time, but not invincible to the dreaded rust.

The engine is a Holden 308 V8, running on pump gas/avgas. It has just been freshened up and balanced by Cambridge Engine Services.

Needless to say, our 5 children have grown up with the boat and (as oldest daughter Jamie shows) are uber-confident with the horsepower. Dad is relegated to filling the boat with fuel and dollars.
